Peter Howells' paintings and drawings explore a number of phenomena: patterns and textures, beauty in the perfect and imperfect, and connections made when combining seemingly unrelated images. He looks for subject matter that attracts him aesthetically, often finding inspiration in the observation of nature. Howells works intuitively, and through his work hopes to uncover truths about himself and express to others how he sees the world and what he values. After studying art in Illinois and Florence, Italy, Pete Howells moved to San Francisco in 1992, where he has participated in several groups shows.
